What Happens If Your Recarga Fails? Wyra's Refund Guarantee, Explained

September 1, 2026 · 3 min read · By Wyra Team

Sending money into a system you don't control — a mobile carrier on the other end of a border — comes with a fair question: what happens if it just doesn't go through? You paid, but did they actually get it?

Here's the honest, specific answer, not a vague reassurance.

If the carrier can't deliver it, you're refunded automatically

When you send a recarga, Wyra passes your order to the carrier on the other end. Almost always, it lands within seconds. But carriers are real systems with real outages, and occasionally one can't complete a top-up — a network issue on their side, a denomination that's temporarily unavailable, something outside our control.

When that happens, you don't have to notice it or ask for anything. The refund is automatic, back to the original payment method you paid with. No support ticket, no waiting to see if anyone responds.

In the rare case the automatic refund itself can't process, our team gets alerted and resolves it manually — typically within 24 hours. That's a safety net for a safety net; it's not the normal path, but it exists so a failure never just sits there unresolved.

What a completed recarga means

Once a top-up is successfully delivered to the recipient's number, that transaction is final — the same way a physical recharge card, once used, can't be "returned." This is standard across the industry, not a Wyra-specific restriction: digital top-ups are consumed the instant they land.

One thing that isn't covered: if you enter the wrong number, country, carrier, or amount and the recarga completes successfully to that (wrong) destination, that doesn't qualify for a refund. Double-checking the number before you pay is the one step that's on you.

How long does a refund take once it's issued?

Refund processing typically takes 5–10 business days to show up on your statement after it's approved, which is standard for how card networks process returns — Wyra doesn't hold onto it any longer than that on our end.

Why we built it this way

The alternative — making customers notice a failed top-up and file a support request to get their money back — puts the burden on exactly the person who has the least information about what went wrong on the carrier's side. Automating it means the system that knows the delivery failed is the same system that triggers the refund, immediately, without a human in the loop having to catch it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to contact support to get refunded for a failed recarga?

No. Failed top-ups are refunded automatically to your original payment method. Support only gets involved in the rare case the automatic refund itself doesn't process — and even then, it's resolved without you having to ask.

Can I get a refund if I entered the wrong number?

No — once a top-up completes successfully to a number, that transaction is final, even if it was the wrong number. Double-check before you confirm.

How long does the refund take?

Typically 5–10 business days to appear on your statement after it's approved, which follows standard card network processing times.

Is a completed top-up ever refundable?

No. Once successfully delivered to the recipient's number, the transaction is final — this applies to recargas and data bundles across the industry, not just Wyra. See the full Refund Policy for every product Wyra sells.
